In order to better understand the current level of implementation of Russian solutions and to outline the right paths for forming user support actions, specialists from CSoft, one of the largest companies developing software for industrial and civil construction and architectural design, conducted a study entitled “Use of Russian TIMs as a component of the domestic software market in 2024”. They interviewed 332 respondents, top managers and company executives in such areas of activity as: construction, energy, heavy industry, design and engineering activities, information technology and education.

What are TIM solutions?
The concept of "information modeling technologies" (IMT) is an adapted translation of the English term "building information modelling", which denotes the process of developing an object-oriented model of a construction object or complex of construction objects in three-dimensional form, with elements of which data on the geometric, physical and functional characteristics of the construction object are associated. The resulting model is used at different stages of the construction project to optimize and improve the efficiency of the processes included in it. Thus, digital solutions in the field of information modeling are separate programs and software packages with the help of which the process of developing an information model is carried out.
The abbreviation TIM began to be used in 2019, when, in accordance with Federal Law No. 151-FZ, the term "information model" was introduced into the Urban Development Code. An important characteristic of TIM solutions is the ability to organize a joint work process for several participants in a construction project: developers, builders, contractors, designers, representatives of government bodies, supervisory bodies, state expertise, etc. Along with solutions for information modeling, automated design (CAD) and construction management systems are also inextricably linked.

In the last two years, the development of digital solutions for information modeling, design automation and construction management has noticeably increased in Russia. The most famous developers of such systems are the companies "SiSoft Development", "Nanosoft", "ASCON", 1C, "Topomatic", "BIMPRO", "CREDO-DIALOG", "Vitro Soft", "Kairos Engineering" and others.
What will help Russian developers speed up the implementation of TIM?
At the same time, various government initiatives have a significant impact on the formation of the market, such as the resolution on the mandatory maintenance of an information model of an object for participants in construction projects involving budgetary funds, which comes into force on July 1, 2024, or the creation of a digital vertical infrastructure in the form of the State Information System for Urban Development (GISOGD) at the level of the federation and constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
