Bangladesh beats Pakistan by 17 goals to reach semi-finals

Sports Desk: Bangladesh's teenage girls have secured a place in the semi-finals of the Under-18 SAFF Championship football tournament by defeating Pakistan 17-0.

Marjia left the field with an 8-0 lead in the first half. Mosammat Sirat Jahan scored 4 goals, Marjia 3 and Shiuli Azim scored one.

The Bangladeshi girls shined even more in the second half. The red-green jersey holders scored nine more goals in the final half.

Bangladeshi footballers took 25 shots on goal throughout the match, country email list converting 17 of them into goals.

Maria-Ankhira are on a mission to win the SAFF Under-18 tournament in Bhutan on Sunday (September 30). This time too, the red-green team is in group with Nepal and Pakistan. Therefore, Bangladesh has already secured a semi-final spot by defeating Pakistan on Sunday (September 30).

To that end, the red-green team will play at Changlimithang Stadium at 7 pm Bangladesh time.

News Desk: Major General Susane Giti, a professor of the Army Medical Corps, has become the first woman to be promoted to the rank of Major General in the Bangladesh Army. On Sunday (September 30), Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed and Lieutenant General Shamsul Haque bestowed the rank on her at the Army Headquarters. Army officials were present at the time.
With the promotion, Susane Giti will now take charge as the Commandant of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.
It is worth mentioning that Major General Susane Giti passed her MBBS from Rajshahi Medical College in 1985. Then in 1986, she joined the Bangladesh Army as a female doctor with the rank of Captain. She became the first woman to obtain an FCPS degree in hematology in 1996. She has also served as a pathology specialist in UN peacekeeping missions and various military hospitals. She is currently working as the Head of the Department of Pathology at the Armed Forces Medical College.

The ISPR statement mentioned that Major General Susan Giti's husband, Brigadier General Asadullah Md. Hossain Saad (Retd), was a successful military specialist physician. It further mentioned that the groundbreaking steps taken by the Prime Minister for women's empowerment have opened another new horizon in the army by promoting a female officer to the rank of Major General.
