As an ambitious (young) professional, you want to move up quickly and certainly want to take on a management position sooner rather than later. I myself decided to go into management very early on and in the first semester of my studies I was already thinking about how I could quickly get into such a position and, above all, how I could become good at it.
I would like to tell my story and then honestly present a few results from my assessment center for management. Especially when applying for a job as a department head, for example, you as a 30-year-old are competing with people local marketing email list who are 20 years older. So you have to try to make up 20 years in just 5 years of working life. But how does that work?
While I was still studying, I specialized in management and learned management as a craft. I spent 5 years preparing for this, which I would like to list below.
Reading and practicing
What you can do during your studies is to gain some experience in clubs or, as in my case, as the head of the student council, and read lots of books. You can read all the management literature, which in principle hardly changes at first. Your master's thesis should then also be in this direction and perhaps, as in my case, a doctoral thesis. Really learn management as a craft - it is not a privilege but a discipline that can be learned.
Preparation for a management career begins early
