Greater national unity is now the focus of discussion in politics. Initiatives are underway to build this unity among politicians as well as professionals. After the national leaders came together on one stage, initiatives have now been taken to unite the professionals as well. On September 25, an exchange of views was held with professional leaders under the banner of the National Oikya Process. In it, the leaders agreed on the need for greater unity.
People from different walks of life, including doctors, lawyers, teachers, journalists, businessmen, engineers, and agriculturists, are being included in this initiative. The initiative has come a long way, but businessmen are not responding well.
Supreme Court Lawyers Association President Advocate Zainul Abedin told Bangladesh Khabar, "We want to be involved in the unity process for the greater good of the country. This initiative is underway among lawyers. There is a program at the Supreme Court on October 7. In addition to senior lawyers supporting different parties, non-party leaders have also been invited. Various professional leaders will speak at the event.
Ruhul Amin Gazi, leader of the Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad and president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), told Bangladesh Khabar, "Journalists always believe in democracy. Let there be unity among political parties first, and then the issue of professionals will come. We think we will support any movement to protect people's voting rights."
Former president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Fazlur Rahman told Bangladesh Khabar, "Businessmen are also conscious people. They also want law and order, democracy, and peace to be maintained in the country. Business should be under the control of businessmen. Democracy is at the root of all this. We will be in a united struggle under anyone's leadership to restore democracy. Discussions are underway among us."
Engineers Association of Bangladesh (AAB) Vice President Riazul Islam Riju told Bangladesh Khabar, "We agree 100 percent with the demands for greater national unity. There is no alternative to the fundamental rights of the people of the country. Discussions are underway with the leaders of our profession."
Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Secretary General and Sammilit Peshajibi Parishad Member Secretary Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said, "It is difficult to say at this moment whether we will be organizationally involved in the national unity process. However, we are close to their demands."
